We will have one service at 10 am beginning Memorial Day weekend (May 25), 2008. We will combine the church school so that it will continue as previously planned through June 15. We anticipate RALLY DAY (with return to two services) to occur as previously scheduled on Sunday September 7, 2008. This is planned ONLY for this year in order to help our two pastors meet our many and varied expectations once Rev. Wildman leaves, since the interim senior pastor now is expected to arrive July 7, 2008.
2007 Goals for the year:
One immediate and specific goal was the publication of the addendum to the church directory, which was successfully delivered in June 2007.
Our primary goal for 2007, which came out of the Council retreat, was to evaluate how we are meeting the spiritual needs of members. The Board of Deacons decided to focus first on members received during the current and past two years and sought to interview each of these members by phone. A list of nine questions was prepared and phone interviews were conducted over several weeks in late May and June. The Deacons will be incorporating some of the suggestions received through the survey in the next new member classes (for example, enhancing information in the current welcoming packet). We also will consider designating a new member coordinator as part of a revamped Welcoming Committee to consider ways of implementing other recommendations such as a buddy program for new members.
Programs offered:
The Caring Ministry is a network of care that supports members and friends of Rock Spring who are ill, in crisis, experiencing a special need, or simply in need of a way to stay connected to the church family.
Lay caregivers provide regular visits to those who are ill, homebound, or living in long-term-care facilities, in addition to visits to those in the hospital. Special training/resource sessions in many aspects of pastoral care are provided throughout the year. These sessions also offer an opportunity for lay caregivers to share and process their visitation experiences
