Youth Programs

Youth of all ages are an essential part of the community and ministry of Rock Spring.

Rock Spring UCC offers opportunities for children and youth to grow in Christian faith, values and service. Our YoRS (Youth of Rock Spring) program is our outreach to and with the youth of our congregation and community.  YoRS takes part in service projects, special events and weekly programming to lively groups of middle school and high school youth.

Middle High YoRS

Our Middle High youth group is open to 6th to 8th graders.  Each week, we engage in activities, games, service projects and discussions are scheduled regularly. Meets Sunday evenings 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

High School YORS

Senior High YoRS

Our high school youth group is open to 9th through 12th graders. High School YORS offers a variety of Bible Study/Faith reflection programs, games, service activities and involvement with the adult community at Rock Spring. Each Fall, Senior YoRS holds a planning session and determines the best time to meet for the year.  Watch the Rock Spring News for the most up-to-date information.

For more information about the YoRS programs and activities, please email YoRS@RockSpringUCC.org

Summer Mission Trip

Each summer, our youth journey out from their homes to serve our wider community in mission.  The annual Senior High YoRS Mission Experience usually takes place in mid-July.  The adventure is open to all youth who have taken part in the Senior High YoRS program, and have completed their 9th Grade school year (or equivalent).

Planning Sessions and Leadership Retreats begin each autumn.  If you are interested in joining the experience, please email YoRS@RockSpringUCC.org.

This Year’s Fund Raiser

We’re all set to go, and our registrations are in! Now, we need your help with some of the expenses for the trip. We are excited to offer to you:

The First-Ever “Bake a Cake for your Mom” Mother’s Day Cake-and-Bake Sale!

Here’s the details:
From now until May 1, orders will be taken by our Mission Experience Team for specialty cakes for you to give to your mom, grandma, mother-in-law, and all the many “situational” moms in your life. The cakes will be baked on Friday, May 9; decorated on Saturday, May 10, and will be ready for pick-up after worship on Sunday, May 11.
Each cake costs $24 (that’s one dollar for each person going on the Mission Trip). Order forms are available in the Saegmuller Room, or by clicking here .

These funds will go to support the travel costs of the trip to help out the Pittsburgh Project. If you are a baker, you are welcome to help with providing items for the bake sale, too! Our hope is to raise $2000, to reduce the per-person cost of the trip for everyone. Please, share in the Cake-and-Bake fund raiser, and you too can enthusiastically shout, “And I helped!!”

Other Faces of Service

Senior High Youth are also welcome to be involved with leading church programs (teaching Sunday School, serving on various committees, sharing in leading worship, etc.)!
